oh man, has it been a while! i have to ask myself..."what the heck have i been doing?!!" well, i've been working for EILEEN FISHER...the most super-fab company, made up mostly of women, people who are socially, globally and environmentally conscious and of course, talented. not to mention, her clothing is waaaay desirable! i'm still working one day a week at kate's paperie...the place that triggers my creative juices! so, while these are not recent projects, this is along the lines of what i've been doing on my spare time...

2 years ago two great friends of mine got married...brian and jenn. what fun i had designing clever ways to ask her bridesmaids and ringbearers to be in their wedding. i crafted a mini paper dress and hanger that was to resemble the bridesmaid's dresses and placed them in a white box. i affixed the outside of the box with a scalloped label that said, "will you...". when you opened the box, a rice paper wrap (with a scalloped edge) read, "...be my bridesmaid? love, jennifer". underneath the wrap, there lay the tiny, paper dress.

to keep with the theme, i made a similar gift for her ring bearers but instead of a paper dress (because what 4 year-old boy needs one of those?) i baked a cookie and decorated it to look like a ring bearer's pillow. it was super cute...white chocolate dipped and piping to look like lace, fondant rings that i dusted with edible silver and their wedding date inscribed on the cookie. i wrapped the bottom part of the box with a baby blue ribbon that said on it, "...be my ring bearer?".

for jenn's shower, she and brian registered at a local department store and welcomed gift cards to put towards a new bedroom set. i picked up a miniature wooded bed, painted it, baked a few custom shrinky dinks to adorn the bed with, sewed some cute pillows and attached the gift card to the underside of the bed...it was a hit!
