why "the small stuff?" well, besides my likings for all things small, it's kind of a play on words. 2 1/2 years ago i was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer...inflammatory breast cancer. that day, everything changed! it was a busy time of treatment, reflection, never-ending support, appointments, new friends...my doctors and nurses, physical side-effects and emotional side-effects. the "BIG C" rocked my world.

as soon as you hear the words, "you have cancer," you suddenly realize that you're not invincible afterall! to no surprise, 'the small stuff' isn't important anymore...how your apartment needs tidying up, car trouble, or having a bad hair day. while on the same note, 'the small stuff' is all that matters...receiving a hand-written note from a friend, waking up and feeling good, and realizing how nice the sun feels on your face.

this photo was taken in may of 2005. as soon as i found out i had to start chemo, my friend, lawrence, who is a hairdresser, shaved my head for me. we donated my 10" dreads to LOCKS of LOVE.

it's hard to not sweat the small stuff and to be grateful each day for what we have. today, i am forever thankful to be cancer-free and still appreciate "the small stuff!"
